Probably because the volume of sales is small they have to make more per unit.

Maybe if they were cheaper they’d have more sales. There is no way these cost more than $10 to produce.

I love my raceeng. I got a cheaper finish, and no pattern to keep the costs down. But worth it for the design. They're not just thoughtless masses slapped onto a shifter.

There is no way it’s that cheap, maybe in materials, with labor and overhead there is no way it’s that cheap. You have to pay some one to design it, pay for time on a $50k+ C&C machine, pay someone to operate the C&C machine, pay for electricity . Oh and on top of that, you have to make a profit because you’re a business, not a charity. Since they don’t sell these in mass quantities, they have to make each one more expensive to account for overhead.

And charge an extra $35 for the engraving? I understand it’s a business but, that doesn’t mean that $150 for a knob isn’t ridiculous. To each their own, I just can’t see myself buying a shift knob over well anything else you could spend $150 on.

Yeah, looks like a silver one with no engraving is $85 which is much more reasonable but I don’t know that I’d drop that kind of money on a knob.

It was definitely an indulgence. For me, a lot of aftermarket shifters are like V oodoo. See, look how heavy a sphere we made! Don’t like spheres? This one’s kinda ovalish! Raceseng I could at  least look at how I reached for my shifter and buy something designed with that ergonomics and function driving the form, which is something I love about cars in general. I didn't mind supporting a company that made things like that. But yeah, indulgence

Well if that's too much you can stick a wad of playdough on the shifter then wait for it to dry out.

It's super weird, when I bought my car it came with a shift knob (and it was already installed).

Mine also came with one, but it was sticky, and broken, sharp corners diiging into my hand. So I replaced it with a $90 ZHP leather knob. I like my  cars  touch points to feel nice.

ZHP knobs are really nice, BMW in general has some great knobs. For me the steering wheel is the thing I would change if touch points were the problem but again, I don't see the point in spending $350 on a wheel that is damn near identical but slightly nicer material (if you see me post about getting a GT350 wheel you can give me all the shit).

I agree with you on the steering wheel the leather on mine is completely fubar and a knew wheel is too much money, so I put a steering  wheel cover on it. I should look into getting it recovered in new leather.
